Vision Mapping A Strategic Road Map for Creating Your Destiny
Vision Mapping is the process of achieving life goals through mental and physical visualization. The mental process is inner visualization work, while the physical is actually creating a map of your visions, goals or dreams.
Everything is created twice; first in the mind of the creator and then in reality,~Steven R. Covey, the author of the ‘Seven Habits of Highly Effective People’
Vision mapping is used in all aspects of life, from the business world to achieving wealth to creating happy relationships.
Vision mapping looks at inner values and beliefs to help you create the life you have always wanted.
Once you have created a visual map of success, now its time to create your vision board. Most people grab a stack of magazines, cut out random pictures and paste them on a poster board. I feel that this process needs to be more intentional.
When I created my vision board I was deliberate and precise as to what I wanted to see manifest in my life. I found a quiet spot to reflect on what I truly wanted out of life. I asked myself a series of questions and from there I began to visualize the answers. I then broke my vision into categories or different facets of my life…ministry, finances, business and personal, etc. I then set out on a mission to find the images and the words. Once that task was completed I then created mini story boards/collages for each category. I took my collection of mini-boards and had them printed and bound into a hard copy.
I love having portable copies of my vision board. My vision board helps me to organize my thoughts, and it reminds me why I wake up in the morning. Each day it reminds me that I have purpose and a destiny. When I look at my vision board, I feel inspired, enthused, recharged, rejuvenated and proactive.
Oftentimes when I travel outside of the house I will throw a copy in the car, it is nice to reflect and a quick glance instantly brings the plans for my life back into focus. Vision boards are awesome motivators and they help to inspire greatness. I enjoyed the process as it was very rewarding and fulfilling to see a visual of my destiny.
So…Do you have a vision board?
Today I would like to challenge each of my readers to create one. There is no better time than now. I created a quick board for a class last year using Spot Mixer. There are many online resources to assist you with creating a powerful board.
Please keep in mind that it is not about the big houses, the fancy clothes, and cars. I encourage you to be purposeful and urge you to DREAM BIG. The beauty in creating a vision board, is that it’s entirely your own. It consists of every image, or word or sentence that you envision for yourself in your life.
It is recommended that you review your vision board daily. I have two copies of my Vision Board. I keep one copy in my bedroom and the other on my desk. I make it a habit to review it three times a day; once in the morning when I get up, mid-day and before going to bed. In doing this, both your conscious and subconscious mind will be constantly focused on what you want to achieve and helps you to keep your eye on the prize.
